Child & Adolescent Therapy

Therapy for Children & Teens

Navigating the ups and downs of growing up isn't always easy, and every young person deserves a safe space to feel heard, understood, and supported. We provide compassionate, developmentally tailored therapy to help children and teens build resilience, manage big emotions, and thrive at home, at school, and in their relationships.

What We Help With

Children and teens express distress in different ways than adults—sometimes through behavioral changes, emotional outbursts, or withdrawal. We offer guidance and evidence-based care for a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety & Worry: Persistent fears, social anxiety, generalized worry, separation anxiety, and panic.

  • Mood & Depression: Irritability, persistent sadness, low energy, loss of interest in activities, and mood swings.

  • Behavioral & School Challenges: Difficulty with focus, emotional outbursts, impulsivity, academic stress, and school avoidance.

  • Life Transitions & Family Changes: Adapting to parental divorce, moving, starting a new school, blended family dynamics, or sibling conflict.

  • Grief, Loss & Trauma: Processing difficult or scary life experiences, loss of a family member, or significant life disruptions.

  • Self-Esteem & Peer Relationships: Navigating friendship issues, bullying, self-doubt, social pressures, and identity development.

  • Emotional Regulation & Coping Skills: Learning how to identify, express, and manage intense feelings in healthy ways.

Our Approach

We believe that therapy for children and teens should never be a one-size-fits-all approach. Younger children process the world through action and imagination, while adolescents need a space that honors their growing independence and need for privacy. Our therapeutic approach is warm, compassionate, and strengths-based—meeting each young person right where they are. Depending on your child’s age and unique needs, we integrate creative and evidence-based modalities, including play therapy, art-based interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and mindfulness. Above all, we view parents and caregivers as essential partners in the healing process. We collaborate with families to ensure the skills learned in session are supported and nurtured at home, building lasting resilience and stronger connections.

What to Expect
  • The Initial Parent/Caregiver Consultation: Before meeting your child, we typically meet with parents or primary caregivers first. This gives us a chance to discuss your concerns, review family history, and set clear goals without your child feeling put on the spot.

  • Building Trust & Safety: Early sessions focus entirely on building rapport. Whether through play, creative projects, or open conversation, we ensure your child or teen feels safe, respected, and heard.

  • Active Skill-Building: As trust grows, we work together to explore feelings, practice new coping strategies, and develop practical tools for managing stress and navigating challenges.

  • Ongoing Family Collaboration: We hold periodic check-ins with parents to discuss progress, share strategies for home, and adjust goals as your child grows and thrives.
